Happy Birthday HP! 7.31.2007
So you would think I'd have something better to blog about today than Harry Potter's birthday, but I don't. I got all warm and fuzzy inside when I figured out that he was born the same year I was, just a month later. Just think, while he was battling the most evil wizard in the world, I was planing an adventure in Germany, having my little teenage heart broken by a boy, and being hunted down by my father at 3AM because I wasn't home yet. Wow!

has anyone else found the challenges, well, challenging. It nearly killed me to do that last two, and now I've got another impossible one to do. I guess it's good to be stretched every once in a while, isn't it?

I'm too lazy to post my last two pages, but here's a link to my gallery.

oh, and another one of my pages has been picked up for publication! I haven't taken it down yet, so take a peak before I do. "Taken by a Cute Storm".

a weekend of finishing... 7.23.2007
I finished a couple of layouts this weekend for the amazing digiscrapping race, and I also finished Harry Potter. I'm not going to say anything about HP for fear of saying too much lol.

Here's my first layout for the amazing digiscrapping race. I actually started it a long time ago, as part of an album I'm slowly working on. I used the Rue 12 page kit by Christine Ricks (available at pclayers.com)

My partner in crime for the race is Quinn. We live nearby and our kids had a playdate a couple of weeks ago, so it seemed like the natural subject of our collab layout.

The next challenge should be pretty interesting too. At this point I have no idea what I'm going to make it about...

I wish I was magic 7.19.2007
Back in 2000 while I was working at a swimming pool, teaching swimming lessons and lifeguarding, I couldn't help but notice all the little kids walking around with 700 page books (book 4 of Harry Potter). I picked up a copy of the first one that summer, and I've continued on with the series ever since. I'm one of those people that always preorders my copy.

Tomorrow night I'll be picking up my copy of book seven at the midnight madness event, and I just can't wait. I just love getting sucked into the magical world, and I can't help but hate being a muggle. I seriously need some magical powers!

I just had to get that off my chest...

so it might not be a scrapbook page... 7.17.2007

but I think it's pretty cool anyway. This is a little more of what I've been up to this summer. I planted some wildflower seeds back in the early spring, but they were just looking like weeds, so this weekend I decided to do something about it. I added an artic willow bush and a dogwood bush, and then I decided to go all out and add a water feature too. I'm loving it!

Don't worry, I'm alive! 7.05.2007
I've just been enjoying my summer. I am really not a winter person at all, so now that it's nice and warm outside and things are growing, it's just really hard for me to be inside at the computer. (If anyone would like to donate a laptop though...)

A few years ago I discovered that I really love to garden. I've always loved planting things and watching them grow, but when I finally had a bit of yard to play with I really went crazy. The next summer I was preggo, and digging in the dirt definitely lost a lot of appeal, and then last summer Marilyn was crawling everywhere and it was just impossible to watch her and garden at the same time. This year my zest for all things green has returned full force and then some.

Back in December we bought our first house (actually it's a townhouse) and I have the freedom to do whatever I want. It was a little overwhelming at first, but I'm finally starting to get things under control. When we moved in the back yard was just a slope of dead sod so in March I started removing it. I pulled up the patio and leveled it too as it was really uneven. Then Bill decided that we should grade the slope so it's just more usable. This involved carting away a ton of dirt and installing a retaining wall. Then I got the idea that we should have a vegetable bed, so I did a bit of research and decided to use the Square Foot Gardening method. I just finished putting the bed and trellis together today, and hopefully I can still plant some tomatoes and watermelon, but I'm thinking it might be a little late. We're hoping to get the sod put in this weekend too, and we're both super ready to sit back and enjoy the yard a bit-- but then what will I do with myself!

I have been making a little garden journal, but it's paper scrapped, and I'm really not much of a paper scrapper... I might start scrapping a little more as I've only finished 2 Marilyn pages since April. Marilyn is really going to wonder what happened to her this summer! I haven't been taking many pictures either, so I think it's time for a photo shoot. I'm also going to be working with a new site. PClayers.com. They've got some super awesome stuff planned, so definitely go check it out.

Here's one of the pages I've made for PClayers. If you go to their site, you can download everything you need to make the page and instructions for free :)
